Hours: Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with occasional evening council meeting attendance.
Compensation: Based on qualifications and experience.

ASSISTANT CITY CLERK
General Nature of Work
This position performs responsible clerical, administrative, and customer service work in support of the
City Clerk’s office. The Assistant City Clerk assists with maintaining official City records, preparing
meeting agendas and minutes, processing payments, issuing permits and licenses, and providing
general support to the public and City staff. The position requires accuracy, professionalism, and the
ability to work with confidential information. Work is performed under the supervision of the City Clerk
and/or City Manager.
Essential Job Functions
– Assists the City Clerk in preparing agendas, attending City Council meetings, and recording and
transcribing accurate minutes.
– Provides customer service to residents, businesses, vendors, and city staff, in person, by phone, and
|by email.
– Receives, posts, and reconciles payments for utility accounts, taxes, licenses, and other municipal
revenues.
– Maintains records for accounts receivable, daily cash reports, and related financial documentation.
– Assists with voter registration and election preparation; may help qualify candidates, assemble forms,
staff polling locations, and assist with post-election documentation under the direction of the City Clerk
or City Manager.
– Issues business licenses, permits, and other documents as authorized.
– Helps maintain filing systems, digital records, and document archives according to retention
schedules.
– Prepares routine correspondence, forms, notices, and public information materials.
– Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive information with discretion.
– Performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
– Knowledge of basic office procedures, computers, and standard office software (Word, Excel, email).
– Ability to learn city policies, procedures, and relevant state/local regulations.
– Ability to accurately handle money, receipts, and financial records.
– Ability to organize work, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
– Strong written and verbal communication skills.
– Ability to work professionally with elected officials, employees, and the public.
– Ability to maintain composure and problem-solve in busy or stressful situations.
Training and Experience
– High school diploma or equivalent required.
– Experience in an office, bookkeeping, customer service, or municipal environment preferred.
– Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills,
and abilities will be considered.
– Must be able to be bonded.
Working Conditions
– Primarily indoor office work.
– Frequent contact with the public, staff, and outside agencies.
– Light physical effort, including sitting, standing, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
