Officers provide a wide range of services, including:
Responding to calls for service
Patrolling and monitoring the city
Enforcing state criminal and traffic laws as well as local ordinances
Collecting evidence and testifying in court
For non-emergencies, officers can be reached at (229) 782-5441. In case of an emergency, dial 911.
The City of Doerun Fire Department primarily serves an administrative and coordination role, working closely with the Doerun Volunteer Firefighters, who are part of the Colquitt County Volunteer Association of Firefighters.
The Association is composed of fifteen volunteer fire departments throughout Colquitt County, providing comprehensive fire protection to the entire county, with the exception of the City of Moultrie. Mutual aid agreements are also in place with Moultrie’s paid fire department and neighboring counties, ensuring rapid and effective response to emergencies.
Thanks to this collaborative system and extensive resources, the City of Doerun maintains a Class 5 fire insurance rating, providing residents and businesses with the associated insurance discounts.
The City of Doerun Utility Department is responsible for five key areas: Electric, Gas, Sewer, Streets, and Water. While the department currently has six skilled employees, they bring the expertise required to efficiently manage the city’s daily operations and maintain high-quality services for residents and businesses.
Doerun is a member of MEAG Power (Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia), a nonprofit statewide generation and transmission organization. The city receives electricity through MEAG via the Georgia Integrated Transmission System (ITS) and distributes it through a system fully rebuilt in 2014. Services range from single-phase residential service to three-phase commercial and industrial connections.
